Jeremy Reed
MLB Hitting Coach, 21 pro seasons
Jeremy Thomas Reed is an American former professional baseball outfielder and Major League coach in Major League Baseball (MLB).
Early Life
Reed graduated from Bonita High School in La Verne, California in 1999, and went on to play college baseball at Long Beach State University. He also played for the USA Summer National Team in 2001 and 2002.
Professional career
Reed was drafted by the Chicago White Sox as the 59th overall pick (2nd round) of the 2002 MLB Draft.
In 2003, he was honored as the Topps Minor League player of the year, batting .333 for Single-A Winston-Salem in 66 games and .409 for Double-A Birmingham in 65 games. Reed batted .373 for the year. Reed was selected to represent team USA as a member of the Olympic qualifying team.
He led all major league center fielders in range factor (3.05) in 2005.
Reed played for multiple organizations throughout his career including the Chicago White Sox, Seattle Mariners, New York Mets, Milwaukee Brewers, Toronto Blue Jays, Minnesota Twins, and the Arizona Diamondbacks. He represented the Seattle Mariners, New York Mets, Toronto Blue Jays, and the Milwaukee Brewers at the Major League level.
Retired in 2013 as a player.
Coaching Career
Reed was named minor league hitting coordinator for the Milwaukee Brewers for the 2014 season. Reed spent 3 years developing hitters and coaches for the Milwaukee Brewers organization.
He served as the Los Angeles Angels minor league hitting coordinator from 2017 to 2018. In November 2018, he was promoted by the Angels to be their major league hitting coach. Reed coached at the Major league level from 2019-2022
Reed coached multiple superstars and future hall of famers. Albert Pujols, Mike Trout, Shohei Ohtani, Justin Upton, Kole Calhoun is just a handful of names to note.
What Reed would like you to know:
Although the road to the Major leagues was a lifelong dream, playing at the Major league level wasn’t his greatest accomplishment to date. Coaching at the major league level outweighs any personal success. Learning how the body functions and helping others navigate through the Major leagues has created a burning desire to help young athletes chase their dreams.
